Adelaide, the capital of South Australia is for free-spirited and free-thinking people. The students who study here vibe fluently with the locals and love the culture here. The weather here is pretty warm, making it a beach season throughout the year.

The city houses more than 70,000 students in four big universities. Out of these, 20,000 are international students.A lot of international students choose Adelaide because of its value for money. It is one of the cheapest city to live in with great facilities. The city is also very accessible.Apparently, everything is only 20 minutes away. How cool, right?

The city has four big universities,  University of Adelaide,  University of South Australia, Flinders University and Torrens University.

Here are a few places you must check out when in Adelaide :

  1. Adelaide Oval:
You remember the memorable victory of India against Australia in December 2003? The one where Rahul Dravid outshined all with his batting prowess? This is where it all happened. The Adelaide Oval cricket ground is said to be one of the prettiest ground in the world. It hosts interstate and international cricket matches in summer, plus national AFL football and state football matches in winter. When you visit, also see the Bradman collection, devoted to the greatest batsman of all times Don Bradman.
  2. Botanic Gardens:
The symbol of peace and tranquillity, Botanic gardens in Adelaide is an oasis in the cosmopolitan heart of the city, featuring beautifully-landscaped gardens, majestic
avenues, and stunning architecture. They have free entry, 365 days a year and you can also ask for a free guided tour from the Friends of the Botanic Gardens, departing from the Schomburgk Pavilion at 10.30am daily. There are also some cool café’s like Simpson Kiosk and Café Fibonacci for a quick meal.
  3. Wheatsheaf:
As per Lonely planet, Wheatsheaf is the top choice pub in Adelaide. The place is in the industrial Thebarton area and invites a lot of artsy students, azz musos, lesbians,
punks, and rockers. They also boast an outside beer garden. There eclectic live music out the back (acoustic, blues, country), open fires and food trucks parked out the front.Do try their craft beers, we have heard a lot of good things.
  4. Central Market:
Regarded one of Australia’s best food market, the Central Market is a great place to discover local Australian culture and food. There are fresh produce, gourmet
foods, and local street food to try out. And you know what, the market has been running for 150 years, yes.Its a warming experience in itself.Once you are done shopping, stop by the Lucia’s Pizza Bar, the first pizza bar in Adelaide.
