Queensland, Australia, has announced that international students who have enrolled in universities can travel to the country. The Queensland Government’s proposal comes as a blessing as many international students look forward to attending university in person. James Cook University in Queensland is one such university gearing up for the new intake of international students.
The pandemic halted many students in their tracks as countries heightened travel restrictions. Hundreds of students who applied to James Cook University were forced to stay in their home country due to covid-19. With border restrictions easing and Australia reopening its borders to international students, University is excited to see students.

In a statement by James Cook University’s Media and Communications Head, around 30% of international students in the university were Indian. This was during the pre-covid times when there were no restrictions or safety guidelines to be followed. However, this year, covid-19 guidelines will have to be observed.
COVID-19 Regulations to Be Followed by Students
James Cook University will comply with the pandemic protocols set by the Queensland Government while admitting international students into the country. All students must be vaccinated fully with authorized vaccines. They also have to undergo mandatory quarantine upon arriving in Australia at the Wellcamp facility in Queensland.
The Tourism Minister of Queensland stated that international students are vital for the state’s economic growth and prosperity. Businesses in Queensland thrive on international student’s who contribute to their business in the area. Without them, tourism and hospitality industries are affected immensely. Prior to the dangerous pandemic, the education industry of Queensland was worth a whopping $5.8 billion.
