In present times, students have been moving abroad for higher education and foreign universities are increasingly in demand. This comes at a time where education has been moved from in-person to e-learning due to the insufferable pandemic. For those still considering their university destination, a students satisfaction survey has some intriguing news that may impact university decisions.
The survey which was conducted for the 2021 Studyportals Student Satisfaction Report, found that Spanish universities have been rated highest. Specifically for international students, the students satisfaction survey found that Spain is currently a top university country of choice. The survey comprised of responses from 108,000 students from across the globe to ensure accurate results for the research.
Which Other Countries Made It to the List?
According to the students satisfaction survey by Studyportals, Spain was followed by Austria, Estonia, Hungary and Italy respectively. Surprisingly, the UK ranked at the 7th position for top English-speaking universities around the world with Czech Republic at #6. Other top countries also ranked lower than expected with Canada at the 21st position. The USA stood at #15 and Australia at #10, clearly indicating that top university destinations must step up their game.
What Metrics Were Adopted for the Students’ Satisfaction Survey?
Studyportals used a 5-point rating scale and students rated their experiences in different areas of university-related processes. Students evaluated their overall satisfaction, admission process, student-professor interactions, the standard of life, career opportunities and diversity among students. Moreover, students also scored 2 categories that were included this year— e-learning experience and COVID-19 disaster management and crisis mitigation.
Students belonging to over 200 countries of the world participated in this survey that scrutinised university institutions from 121 countries. The survey was student-centric and evaluated educational institutions from a student’s perspective. After all, the students’ satisfaction survey is critical for students’ heading to university in foreign countries. Studyportals student’s satisfaction survey has significant implications for the international higher education industry and suggests that major Western countries are no longer the gatekeepers of foreign education.
